llona Jankow died March 20, 2020 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, while living with her son Jason and daughter in-law Maria in Eatontown NJ. She is survived by her son Matthew; son Jason and wife Maria; grandchildren Justin, Jacob, Sophia, Gianna, Isabella, and Alexandria; and former husband and dear friend Robert Jankow. Ilona also leaves behind a niece, Dana Albert, and her husband of Augsburg, Germany; great niece, Silke Albert Jones and her husband of Little Rock, Arkansas and their daughter, Gia. She is predeceased by her granddaughter, Marissa Eve. Ilona was born in 1940 in Arad, Romania to Bela and Aranka Vasuta. She joined her father in the United States in the 1960s when she started night school, learned English, and began a career as a Dental Technician. She raised her children in Berkeley Heights before spending 20 years living in West Palm Beach. She moved back to NJ in 2017 to be closer to family. Ilona loved spending time with, and cooking for her family and friends. She always had a smile on her face and was constantly on the go. She also loved Wegmans! Ilona will be laid to rest on Thursday, June 25th at 10am at St. Teresa of Avila cemetery in Summit, NJ. For details, please contact her family.
