Hugh M. Jamieson, 95, of Sea Girt, NJ passed away on Saturday, October 26, of natural causes.
Hugh was born on April 8, 1924 in Newark, NJ to Morton and Cecelia Jamieson. Hugh married Maureen Moriarty of Jersey City on January 9, 1954 to begin a 65 year partnership.
Following graduation from West Side High School in Newark, and Newark Academy in Livingston, he served in the US Armys 63rd Infantry Division as an anti-tank gunner during World War II in the Central Europe and Rhineland Campaigns. Upon return from war, Hugh obtained a bachelors degree in agriculture from Rutgers, New Brunswick in 1950. He joined Armour & Co, following college, before beginning a long and successful career with the New Jersey Department of Agriculture.
Beyond Newark, Hugh was also a resident of Glen Ridge, NJ, and Bay Head, NJ. Hugh was a long time parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in East Orange, NJ where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and as a Parish Council member. Upon moving to the Shore, he became a regular parishioner at St. Marks Catholic Church.
Hugh is survived by his wife Maureen, of Sea Girt, NJ, daughter and son-in-law Katherine and Larry Laws of Tampa, FL, daughter and son-in-law Maureen and Jeff Rowell of Williamsburg, VA, son Hugh Jamieson of West Orange, NJ and son and daughter-in-law David and Jennifer Jamieson of Hopewell, NJ, his grandchildren Adam of Tampa, FL, Jennifer of Great Falls, MT, Samantha of Williamsburg, VA, Caitlin of Clarksville, TN, Maura of Seattle, WA, Courtney of Tampa, FL, and Justin of Hopewell, NJ, his great grandchildren Grayson, Greer, Catherine, Madelyn, and Madeleine and brother and sister-in-law John and Lee Jamieson of Spring Lake, NJ.
