Helen Straehle Mayer-Blaine

Helen Straehle Mayer-Blaine, 92 years, of Island Heights passed away on Good Friday, March 29, 2024 surrounded by family at her daughter’s home in Manasquan.

Helen Mayer was born on February 4, 1932 in the family home on Sanford Street, New Brunswick, NJ. As a child, her family moved to Belmar where they owned and operated Riverside Dairy for many years. Helen married George Straehle in 1950 and moved to Wall Township where they raised their family.

After Helen’s children were raised, she began a long career as an Avon Representative. Helen was a member and past president of the Belmar Woman’s Club, a charter member of the Garden State Model Boaters Club, and an active friend of the Island Heights United Methodist Church.

Helen remarkably found love two times after being widowed. Helen is predeceased by her first husband George Straehle, second husband Albert Mayer, third husband Steward Blaine, her daughter-in-law Barbara, and grandson Robert Allen.

Helen is survived by her children George Jr., Peter Jay (Elisa), Lisa Risden (Alan), Helenbeth Matyas (Edward), 10 Grandchildren and 13 Great-Grandchildren.

A wake will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Beach Chapel on the corner of Main St. and 3rd Ave. in Manasquan on Saturday, April 6 at 9:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial commencing at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
