On Saturday May 20, 2017, Harvey Meldrum, 60 of Manasquan passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a four year courageous battle with Glioblastoma Grade 4 brain cancer.
He is survived by his best friend and love, his wife Cynthia Dyke-Meldrum of 20 years, his mother Mildred Meldrum, as well as many nieces and nephews that he adored. He is predeceased by his father Harvey and brother Danny.
Harvey served his country as a member of the US Army. He was the owner of Meldrum Financial in Manasquan for the past 30 years, where he helped thousands of local families and their children navigate college aid planning. He was well known in the community, a member of the Manasquan Recreation for years as well as a member of The Academy of Finance at Manasquan High School. Harvey was also the long time Monmouth Women's Soccer Assistant Coach working with the goalkeepers, which he loved.
Harvey beat the odds of GBM where most are gone in months. He refused to let it stop him until he made that choice. Cancer did not define nor beat him, he chose to leave it behind.
He will truly be missed by everyone. Known for a smile that would light up a room and his charismatic personality. Always known for telling a great joke and someone everyone wanted to be around.
He will be missed mostly by his wife Cindy, their dog Madison, and two cats Lilly and Annie.
Per Harvey's wishes there will be a private celebration of life at a later date.
We know that Harvey is riding his motorcycle for some wind therapy feeling free and happy and bringing a smile to someone who needs one.
