Geraldine Paula Morehouse Kacen

August 3, 1945 — April 13, 2026

Belford, NJ

Geraldine Paula Morehouse Kacen, 80, of Middletown, New Jersey passed away peacefully on Monday, April 13, 2026 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, after a brief, but courageous battle with advanced stage cancer. She was surrounded in love by her children and grandchildren.

Geraldine (Geri) Morehouse Kacen was born on August 3, 1945 in Framingham, Massachusetts to Agnes and Paul Morehouse. After graduating from Middletown Township High School in 1963, Geri went on to Glassboro State College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education. In 1967, she began a successful career as an elementary school teacher for the Middletown Township Public School District. She was a dedicated classroom teacher for 38 years before retiring in 2005.

Outside of the classroom, Geri loved spending time with family and friends, relaxing at the beach, and floating in the pool. Geri was caring, supportive, and generous to all who knew her. She loved her “fur babies” and had a good sense of humor. Geri was well-known for acknowledging the birthdays of her friends and family members each and every year by sending a thoughtful card, making a phone call or sending a sweet text message. She never forgot anyone!

Geri was a devoted mother to William V. Kacen II (Bill) and Pamela J. Kacen and a proud grandmother to Wyatt J. Kacen, Ellie R. Kacen, Owen J. Kacen, Lily M. Kacen, and Merrick W. Kacen. Geri considered her children and grandchildren to be her greatest accomplishment and joy.

Geri is survived by her loving sisters Pamela M. Ryan, Shirley M. Dearing (Terry Dearing), and Nancy J. Taylor. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews for whom she was a wonderful aunt.

Geri was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes Morehouse Howells and Paul F. Morehouse as well as her amazing brother-in-law Timothy M. Ryan.

A memorial service will be held (by invitation only) in September 2026 at the Kacen Family home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Monmouth County SPCA in Geri Kacen’s memory.
