George Meikle, 85, passed away unexpectedly at home on April 14, 2020. Born in Hackensack, NJ and raised in North Arlington, he was the consummate athlete, playing basketball for Rutgers University before enlisting into the Army. During his service, he was the starting football quarterback, traveling throughout Europe for two years. Upon his return, he finished his education at Fairleigh Dickinson University and married his high school sweetheart Jean (Regina Mullen). Together they built a beautiful life and family in Bloomfield before moving to Wall Township.
George loved the beach, golf, the NY Giants, Yuenglings, sweets, and a strong cup of coffee. He cherished his summers growing up in East Hampton caddying at the Maidstone Club where he put himself through college. He led a long successful career as the eastern regional vp at Chamberlain Manufacture, where he forged friendships from all walks of life. A gentle giant, strong provider, dapper dresser, loving husband, father and pop, he will be remembered always by his huge heart and infectious smile. Nothing meant more to him than his adoring family. He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend Jean, his son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Christine; a daughter and son-in-law Susan and Keith MacFarlane; and 7 grandchildren who were his world: Michael, Matthew, Amanda, Lyndsey, Jack Mac, Caitlyn and Jack.
"Life will never be the same without our pop. His smile was contagious. He made everything better."
A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
