George H. Laforge

June 1, 1939 — December 30, 2015

What will remain most prominent in our memory of George will be the generous spirit that nurtured the dynamically unconditional love he invested in his family. George's unwavering conviction that the Lord Jesus Christ was captain of his ship became the Guiding Light conquering any obstacle through both calm and stormy seas. Quick to see the humor and look for the positive George was able to embrace life moment by moment with his carefree manor making his company sought out and irresistible. Although his college scholarship was due to his prowess in basketball, George was enthusiastic and took great pleasure in every spectrum of the sport world. In contradiction to his gentle spirit, it was at the Golden Gloves or watching a prized boxing match that he was most aglow. Like a diamond with many facets, George easily transitioned from a busy schedule operating his trucking business into,in his latter years, his very pleasurable role as the Pied Piper of the canine world. Daily he could be seen jauntily strolling with one of his furry friends- pocket bulging with treats. George never missed an opportunity to participate in the lives of his six exuberant grandchildren, in birth order Max and Shane Renfroe, Chloe and Christian LaForge, Dylan Clancy and of course feisty little Jude LaForge. Never deprived of attention and his utmost devotion, Pop Pop was the quintessential "cheerleader". Always quick with words of praise and encouragement, eagerly anticipated from their greatest champion. Not one to attach to worldly wealth, or seek after material things George was more than satisfied and supremely content with the blessings he experienced having two children. Their adoration for him a tribute to George's character. Daughter Courtenay Clancy (spouse Devon) and son Christian LaForge (spouse Julie Renehan). The forever love of his life and closest companion was his wife of forty-eight years MaryEllen with whom he loved to kick up a dance. George could rock ! And of course his "big sister" Janet La Forge with whom he enjoyed many mirthful times He was predeceased by his parents George and Elizabeth, brother John and sister Betty Ann. All of this is but a reflection of the genuine humility that acquired for George his everlasting worth to all who knew him. George we're gonna keep on loving you cause it's the only thing we want to do! Donations are being accepted in George's name at the Jersey Shore Dream Center jerseyshoredreamcenter.org A Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, 12 Noon, January 16th. at Holy Trinity Ev.
