George Koumpias

June 3, 1973 — April 4, 2025

George Koumpias, a beloved husband, father, stepfather, son, and friend, passed away on April 4, 2025, at the age of 51, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 3, 1973, in Yonkers, NY, to Helga Koumpias and was predeceased by his father, Anthony Koumpias. George's journey, though far too short, was marked by love, creativity, and an unwavering spirit.

George's life was a testament to resilience and a deep love for music. He was a talented DJ and had a passion for creating music. His love for music and going out dancing brought joy not only to himself but to everyone around him. George's hobbies extended beyond music; he was an avid fan of Star Wars, Star Trek, and tinkering with RC Cars.

In July 2024, George married the love of his life, Laura Burke. Their relationship was a remarkable story of love that endured the test of time, having been together in the early 2000’s and separated for almost 15 years. When they reunited, it was as if no time had passed, and they cherished each and every day together. Their bond was a beautiful reminder of the power of love and second chances.

George is survived by his devoted wife, Laura; his son, Nathan Koumpias; his stepson, Ethan DeGuzman; and his stepdaughter, Emma DeGuzman. He was a loving father who took great pride in his son and treasured every moment spent with him. He demonstrated an easygoing nature that made him easy to get along with, and he was liked by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

The family wishes to honor George's memory through private services, as they reflect on the love and laughter he brought into their lives. In lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory can be made to cancer research organizations, continuing the fight against the disease that took him from us far too soon.

George will be deeply missed, not just as a husband and father, but as a friend who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. His legacy of love, laughter, music, and creativity will live on in the memories of his family and friends. May he rest in peace, free from pain, and embraced by the love of those who have gone before him.

Services are entrusted to Jersey Shore Cremation, 43 Taylor Avenue, Manasquan, NJ.
