Frieda Carlson - Point Pleasant

Freida L. Carlson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at home, after a short illness surrounded and comforted by family and friends and her precious dog Mini. Freida was born in 1945 near Salzburg, Austria. After a stay at the Red Cross Refugee camp in Germany, her family was sponsored by a local farmer to come to America to work. 5 year old Freida with her brother, William and sister, Dina (Treat) and mother and step-father, they came through Ellis Island. Her family was soon able to afford a home of their own and moved to Howell where Freida lived until she married Carl C. Carlson Jr. of Freehold, NJ in 1962.Freida and Carl bore 2 children, Christine Carlson Spencer of Brick, and Carl Carlson III of Boston, Mass.; and 1 granddaughter, Samantha Paige Spencer of Delray Beach, Florida.Freida and Carl lived many years in Lakewood before moving to Point Pleasant 26 years ago. The Carlson's split their time together between Point Pleasant and Marathon, Florida Keys, where they are members of the Sombrero Country Club and spent all fishable days anchored on the reefs of the Keys catching Yellowtails and Grouper. Freida loved to cook her catch and share with anyone willing to accept her kindness. Freida was an outstanding cook and an awesome friend. She was fiercely loyal and extremely generous.Freida's last wishes are being honored with a memorial at their home on Saturday, Oct. 5. Anyone wishing to stop by and remember Freida with stories and memories is encouraged to attend. Guests will be received from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. @ the Carlson home, 2318 Oriole Way Point Pleasant, 732-757-2312, with an informal Eulogy at 5 p.m.
