Frank J. Merowchek Sr. of Matawan, New Jersey, passed away on April 23, 2022.
Frank was born on December 30, 1945 to Francis Merowchek and Marguerite Cummings in Newark NJ. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer and son-in-law Danny McNamee; His son Frank and daughter-in-law Christine Merowchek; His 7 grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Brianna, and Liam McNamee; Marissa, Brandon, Angelo, and Mila Merowchek; Sister, Theresa Trunzo; Brothers, John and Anthony Trunzo; As well as many neices and nephews.
Frank had a love for the automotive industry that started at a very young age. He started working at his Uncle Bob's Shell gas station in Newark NJ where he used to pump gas and fix cars. He later began a long sales career in the autobody industry working for City Auto Supply (eventually bought by Finishmaster) in Newark for over 30 years. After retiring, Frank still worked part time as an autobody sales rep for his good friend Andy Kara at Formula Plus. Not only was he in sales, but he also worked out of his garage, in Cliffwood Beach, NJ as an autobody mechanic. His skills and workmanship were second to none. The only breaks he would take were to eat or watch a NY Jets game.
Frank had a passion for sports as well. He was a diehard Yankees and Jets fan. He played baseball when he was younger and then started coaching when his son played.
Anyone who knew Frank was touched by his kindness, humor and generosity. He always put others first and would never say no to someone who needed his help. From his many friends in the Matawan/Aberdeen area and beyond, and especially his Park Place Diner family, he was truly loved by all.
Frank's wishes were to be cremated. He chose not to have a viewing where family and friends would gather and mourn him. He instead wanted everyone to celebrate his life. Think positively about your interactions with him and rejoice.
