Edward Charles Woodman, 65, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 1, 2026.
Born on July 7, 1959, and raised in the Bay Head and Point Pleasant area, Eddie spent much of his life earning his living as a commercial fisherman. He worked hard throughout his career and was a familiar face among the local fishing community.
Outside of fishing, Eddie enjoyed many interests and hobbies. He was an avid reader with a particular fascination for World War II history and could often be found immersed in a good book or documentary. For a time, photography became one of his passions, and he enjoyed capturing images of the local fishing fleet and life along the Jersey Shore. In recent years, he found great enjoyment in building and collecting model trains. Eddie also had a lifelong love of music. The Beatles and the Rolling Stones were among his favorite bands, and if Billy Hector was performing somewhere locally, there was a good chance Eddie would be there enjoying the show. Above all, Eddie cherished his pets, who were faithful companions throughout his life.
Those who knew Eddie understood that he was truly one of a kind. He had a unique sense of humor, a sharp mind, and a personality all his own. He will be remembered for his independence, his wit, and the many memories he leaves behind with family and friends.
Eddie was predeceased by his father, George Woodman; his mother, Emma Woodman Lewis; and his beloved sisters, Suzann Cole in 2023 and Jean Brendel in 2024.
He is survived by his brother, Roger Woodman and his wife, Jean; his brother-in-law, John Cole; his niece, Jessica Arnot and her husband, Tom; his nephew, Brian Cole and his wife, Alyson; his nieces, Sara Brendel and Shelby Brendel; his nephew, Steven Brendel; and his great-nieces and great-nephew, Kayla, Riley, and Molly Cole. He also leaves behind extended family, lifelong friends, and many fellow fishermen who will remember him fondly.
A celebration of Eddie’s life will be announced at a later date.
The family invites those who knew Eddie to honor his memory by sharing a favorite story or photograph, celebrating a life that was uniquely his own and will never be forgotten.
Fair winds and following seas, Eddie.
