Edward J. Mesmer passed away June 16, 2015 in Brick. Born August 16, 1928 in Passaic. He settled down in Brick and Point Pleasant to raise his family. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after serving in the Korean War. He loved baseball and spent time as a pitcher for the Philly Athletics for 33 years and was a loyal employee of the U.S. Postal Service. Ed was a loving father, husband and grandfather with a quick wit and awesome sense of humor. He loved telling jokes, spending time with family and tending to his beloved tomato plants in the summer. Ed was the true definition of a good, hardworking man. He will be greatly missed. Ed is survived by his loving wife Betty Mesmer; his children James Mesmer and his wife Diane of Brick, his daughter Lynda Mesmer Munn of Point Pleasant, his grandchildren Jessica Ansbach and her husband Michael of Point Pleasant, Allison Munn and her fiancé Roy Rollins of Spring Lake Heights, Michael Mesmer and his fiancé Gina Baxter of Brick, and Scott Mesmer of Brick, as well as his great-grandson Holden Ansbach.
