Edward J. Mcgrady, Sr.

Edward J. McGrady, Sr. age 87, of Spring Lake Heights, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2018 surrounded by his family. Born on July 29, 1930 in Irvington, NJ, Ed was one of seven children and the son of William and Margaret McGrady. Ed lived in Springfield before moving to Spring Lake Heights in 1996. He worked for Taystee Bakeries for over forty years, before retiring in 1993. In later years, Ed worked as a crossing guard at H.W. Mountz and St. Catharines Elementary Schools, Spring Lake. Ed loved to watch his grandchildren play sports and could almost always be seen at a local lacrosse, football, and baseball field. He will be remembered for his loving and caring nature, and his laugh and smile that could warm hearts. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, William and John and sisters, Anna and Mary Jane. Surviving is his loving wife Joan of 63 years; sister Margaret McGrady Lynch; daughter Joanne Reilly and husband Brian Sr.; son Edward McGrady Jr. and wife Mary. Also surviving are his 5 grandchildren, Brian Jr., Conor, Edward III, Joanna, and Matthew. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 10:30am at St. Catharines, 215 Essex Ave, Spring Lake. Services are under the direction of Jersey Shore Cremation Service, 36 Broad Street, Manasquan NJ.
