Edward Carpinello, of Bay Head, NJ, Lighthouse Point, Florida and Treasure Cay, Bahamas passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2013. Born in Brooklyn, NY on September 17, 1929 he attended Saint Francis Prep and graduated from Seton Hall University, which he attended on a swimming scholarship. He moved to Spring Lake in 1958 and resided there 23 years before moving to Bay Head. Ed served in the USAF-ANG with the 141 Tactical Fighter Squadron, McGuire AFB. He was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis and was stationed at Chaumont, France. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Ed was a Captain with United Airlines and was owner of the Ship Wheel Inn in Brielle for many years. He could be found most weekends lifeguarding on the Spring Lake Beach.He was predeceased by his parents Dr Edward A and Marie Rosemuz, his sister, Sister Mary Delores and brother Arthur. He is survived by his former wife Anne (Carroll) Carpinello, Spring Lake, a son Edward and his wife Cathy, Boca Raton, Florida, 3 daughters, Gloria, Bay Head, Anne Erbe and husband Darren, Bay Head and Barbara Lukavich and husband James, Ledgewood, NJ. Seven grandchildren Katy, Hope and Casey Carpinello, Brian, Darren, Sarah and Christopher Erbe. He is also survived by his sister Gloria Carpinello fmm and brother Joseph.A memorial mass will be offered on Saturday, November 23,2013 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, Rt 35, Bay Head.
