Edward J Burke

Edward Burke, aged 72, passed away after a long battle with cancer while surrounded by his loving family. He grew up in Union Beach where met his wife Pat, and moved to Keyport where they have resided together for the last 50 years.

Ed was predeceased by his mother, Florence Burke, and his father, Thomas Burke. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Pat Scully Burke, his sons, Thomas and Edward Burke, and two loving grandchildren, Drew and Hannah Burke of Keyport. He is also survived six brothers, Thomas Prendgast and his wife Carol, James Prendgast, Michael Burke and his wife Lauren, Donald Burke, John Burke and his wife Maryann, Marty Burke, and a loving sister, Patricia Clougher and her husband Tom. Additionally, he is survived by his three brothers-in-law, Leo Scully and his wife Sharon, Bob Scully and his wife Carol, and Bill Scully and his wife Theresa, as well as his sisters-in-law, Suzanne Fanning and her husband Mike, Ellen Mixon and her husband Gary, Peggy Capodice and her husband Nick, Barbara Clancy and her husband John, Jeanne Scully Johnson, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ed was a member of the Keyport Matawan Elks Club for over 20 years.

Ed loved going to the Mets, Knicks and Jets games with his wife and sons. He also loved spending time at family barbecues.

As per Ed’s wishes, he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held to honor his life. Ed will be missed by so many, and his legacy will remain alive with everyone that knew and loved him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19th at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church located at 103 Center Avenue, Atlantic Highlands, NJ 07716.
