Edward Porter Barfoot

July 28, 1930 — February 23, 2015

Edward Porter Barfoot (Ed), age 84, of Manahawkin passed away Monday, February 23, 2015 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Ed was born July 27, 1930 in Teaneck NJ to Charles and Elizabeth Barfoot. Ed had five brothers; Charles, George (Bud), Rodney, Ellsworth and Eugene. The family moved to Beach Haven in 1940. He married Elsie Gatton in 1951 and he and Elsie lived in Manahawkin the remainder of their lives. Prior to his retirement, he was a linemen and electrician working throughout NJ. He was a member of IBEW, Local 351. He enjoyed, boating, fishing and hunting. He built many of his own boats. Ed served proudly in the US Army in Korea. He was a Life-member of the 7th Infantry Division Association, American Legion (Post 511), Combat Infantrymen’s Association, Korean War Veterans Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars (Posts 3729 and 9503) and the Honor Degree of the VFW, the Military Order of the Cootie, a service organization serving our veterans. As a Cootie, he was very active performing hospital work for our country’s veterans. Ed is survived by son Edward (Karen) of Chandler, AZ; daughter Debbie Musgrove (Dean) of Delta, PA; grandson James (Brittany) of Durham, NC; grandson John of Riverside, CA; granddaughter Sara Barnes of Tuckerton, NJ; grandson Joe Shreck of Toms River, NJ; great-grandchildren, Logan and Ahlana; Sister-in-laws Juanita Brown of Barnegat; Jane Barfoot of Manahawkin and Jeanne Barfoot of Oakland, NJ. Ed is pre-deceased by his parents Charles and Elizabeth; brothers Charles, George, Rodney, Ellsworth and Eugene; wife Elsie; and son Robert. Graveside services will be held in May at the Greenwood Cemetery in Stafford Township, NJ
