Douglas Cameron Brown

March 31, 1955 — December 25, 2019

Douglas Cameron Brown, age 64, of Howell, NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 25, 2019. Doug was the only son of the late Connie and Leonard Brown. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska and moved to Fairfield, Connecticut with his parents at the age of 9. While living in Fairfield he met some of his closest friends who remained an important part of his life until his death. Doug graduated from the University of Hartford with a degree in electrical engineering in 1977. In college he met his former wife with whom he had two daughters. Doug went on to have a long and successful career as an engineer, working in many different industries and all across the country. He was a well-respected expert in his field. From a young age, and throughout his life, Doug was passionate about music and skiing (and later, biking). He spent every winter skiing the mountains of Vermont with his friends in the ski club (Central Jersey Ski & Snowboard Club). He could be found in the lodge at the end of a long day on the slopes telling everyone how many "vertical feet" he had skied that day. In the summer he could be found on the beaches of the Jersey Shore or biking with his partner, Jo Ann, and friends. No matter where he went, Doug made sure he had his headphones or a good set of speakers to enjoy his music. He could easily transition from jazz to classic rock, and would jump out of his seat to "air guitar" if any Van Halen song came on. Doug was a loving father and grandfather whose soothing dance moves could calm any baby. Doug is survived by his children and their spouses, Jennifer Dybick (Ian) and Kristin Sandrowski (Matt), his grandchildren Brooklyn, Chloe and James, his partner Jo Ann Schumacher, former wife Susan Duignan Foley, relatives Mary and John Carothers and their children, Tamara and Kendra, and many friends that he met along the way.
