Dorothy Gibson Smock, better known as "Lambie", of Interlaken, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 4, 2016. Lambie was born and raised in Asbury Park and lived her entire life at the Jersey Shore.
She was blessed to have so many wonderful lifelong friends who she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with. She enjoyed her summers at the Village Beach Club with her friends and family. She was a woman with true resilience who always smiled and tried to make other people feel better. Everyone who came into her presence would enjoy her quick wit and contagious personality. Lambie spent many years working alongside her husband, Squinty, while they ran the family owned and operated Smock Hardware & Garden Center in Asbury Park.
She was predeceased by her parents, Edwin S. and Betty Gibson, her loving husband, Voorhees K. Smock (Squinty), and her son-in-law, Ted Kutrumbos. Surviving are her sons, Eddie Smock and his wife Joann of Ocean, Craig G. Smock of Oakhurst, and her daughter, Nancy Kutrumbos of Interlaken; her sister, Virginia Willett; her niece, Sandra Taylor of West Allenhurst. She was blessed during her lifetime with four granddaughters: Melissa Kinak (Mett), Alexis Amato (Chris), Nikki Messer (Jim) & Tia Smock; four grandsons: Adam, Brian, Peter, and Matthew Kutrumbos; and six great-granddaughters: Lila, Sophia, Milo, Remi, Elena, and Camilla, as well as many nieces and nephews.
