Doris Salvatoriello

Doris Salvatoriello, aged 83 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on May 1st one week before her 84th birthday. Doris was a proud native of Brooklyn, born on May 8, 1942 to Elis and Elin Janson, immigrants from Sweden.

Upon graduation from high school, she worked as a secretary for the mayor of NYC. After marriage and two children she happily settled in Middletown, NJ where she remained for the rest of her life. When her children were in high school she decided to pursue a new career and studied nursing and very much enjoyed working in the field of geriatrics.

During her retirement, Doris worked as a volunteer at Riverview Medical Center, enjoyed classic movies, and never let a week go by without visiting Trader Joes.

She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Nelson who she met later in life and gave her some of her happiest years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, George Janson and best friend, Ellie Bott.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Ellen Cahill and husband, David Gonzalez. Her son, Walter Cahill and wife, Heather. Her stepdaughter Regina Salvatoriello and partner, Louis DeGennaro. Her sister-in-law, Eleanor Janson. Grandchildren, Julianne Keeley, Alexa Garcia and husband Yul, David Patrick Gonzalez, Emily Cahill and Daniela Gonzalez and her pride and joy, two great grandchildren, Lydia and Matilda Garcia.

Doris will be remembered for her devotion to her family and her kind and gentle soul.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
