Donald Stephen Roberts, 84, of Brick, NJ, formerly Bradenton, FL, passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2021. He was born on November 13, 1936 in Pittsfield, MA.
Don attended Seton Hall University on a full basketball scholarship where he played against greats such as Oscar Robertson and Dave DeBusschere. He graduated in 1958 with a degree in Business Administration.
After graduating, Don worked 27 years as an insurance adjuster for Royal Globe Insurance Company. During that time, he also coached a Catholic Youth Organization basketball team in NJ and won the state championship.
After retiring in 1992 to Bradenton, FL, he worked part-time as a security guard at The IMG Bollettieri Tennis Academy,
mingling with the likes of Andre Agassi, Monica Seles, and Anna Kournikova.
In 2020, he returned to NJ to be with his family.
Don was happily married for 57 years to his beloved wife Charlene until her passing in 2015. He was a kind, caring, and protective father and a proud, supportive, and devoted grandfather. He loved his family dearly.
His legacy lives on through his daughters Nancy Anderson of Bradenton, FL, and Allison Jarvis of Brick, NJ, and grand children Sydney and Nicholas Anderson, Michael Cappadona, and Danielle and Andrew Jarvis.
Don was a “great man”
who will be missed by all.
