Dominic Richard Palumbo Jr., 64, passed away on June 18th, 2025, in Long Branch. Born and raised in Long Branch, Dominic was a life resident. He attended Long Branch High School. Dominic’s career was characterized by his hard work and versatility. He dedicated many years to the culinary world as a cook at Casey Jones Restaurant, before moving onto roles as a commercial driver for Garden State Linen Supply and Seaside Materials/The Stone Gallery. He also served in the maintenance department at Monmouth Park Racetrack, driving the tractor in between races. Dominic loved music, which was a very large part of his life. Pink Floyd, KISS, Aerosmith, The Cars, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, and Modern English are just a few of many bands that were the soundtrack to his life. Dominic loved gardening. Growing vegetables and surrounding himself with plants was something he loved. But the thing he cherished the most was his children and spending time with them. His granddaughter Ariana became the light of his life the moment she was born. Being a pop-pop quickly became his favorite role. He also loved his grand-dog Rosie and enjoyed taking her to the beach and dog park.
Dominic is survived by his three children, Lauren Palumbo and her partner Mia Millan, Amy Smith and her husband Michael Smith, and Anthony Palumbo, as well as his granddaughter Ariana. He is also survived by his former wife Dawn and his sister Donna Peterson. Dominic was predeceased by his parents Dominic and Mary, as well as his sisters, Julie Palumbo, Rachelle Roman, and Susan Lyons.
Dominic’s life will be remembered for his commitment to his work, his love for his family and living every day to the fullest. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
