Dolores Dietz Jamison Smirnoff

Dolores Dietz Jamison Smirnoff, 96, of Freehold NJ passed away peacefully at home on December 13, 2025.

Dolores was born on February 14, 1929 in Newark, NJ to Eleanor and August (Gus) Dietz. She grew up in Belleville, NJ where she attended public school.

Dolores received her nursing certification from St. Barnabas School of Nursing in Newark, NJ and started what would be her lifelong career in nursing, working as a ward nurse at St. Barnabas Hospital. She moved through the ranks to become a head nurse. Relocating to Perth Amboy General Hospital she became a Nursing Supervisor. Dolores furthered her education earning a BS and Master’s Degree by attending night school while working as a nurse. In 1978 when Old Bridge Regional Hospital opened she became the Director of Nursing and remained there until she retired.

In 1949 she married Richard Paul Smirnoff and they had three children: Susan, Carol and Richard Jr. (Rick).Dolores and Richard divorced in 1977.

In 1986 Dolores married David Jamison and they moved to Freehold where she lived for 40 years.

Dolores is preceded in death by her parents, her husband David, and her great grandson August (Augie) Clement Poe.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice for their compassionate care.

Dolores will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
