Denise Marie Bernadette Mastalski Pearson

Denise passed on May 12, 2026 from complications related to Alzheimer’s. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Bill, her daughters Megan and Courtney, and her beloved granddaughter, Matilda Luz.

Born on August 1,1950 in Marstellar, PA to Phillip & Julia Mastalski, formerly of Moss Creek, PA – mining country; their little family became the first generation to live and work outside of the mining community. Denise and Bill met in Long Beach Island, NJ at an ice cream store owned by Bill’s family. It wasn’t quite love at first sight and their first encounter involved a chase down the street and a slushie poured over Bill’s head! During their marriage, Bill and Denise moved all over the eastern seaboard, owning or renting 18 different homes over the course of their lives together. Denise loved decorating homes so much that the joke was that she never re-decorated, just moved to a new house! They both shared a love of new spaces for their growing family, their many pet cats and dogs, dancing, and Williamsburg, VA.

Denise was fortunate enough to stay home while her girls were young. She eventually found work in home design businesses creating her own wallpaper hanging company, getting her license in real estate, and holding various positions with multiple building companies. Forever in search of the perfect kitchen, Denise helped many new homeowners design the kitchen of their dreams!

She loved a very dirty martini and music from the 1950’s and 60’s. She learned to tap dance and play the piano. She loved hosting parties, both big and small, and her homes were always open to friends, both new and old. She hated anything with watermelon flavor - no hubba bubba bubble gum!

She is remembered, cherished, and loved by the glorious community at Trinity Church, in Asbury Park, NJ and all those who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Denise’s Life will be held on October 10th, 2026 at 11am at Trinity Church
