Hi it’s Dawn. If you’re reading this I am no longer on the earth (or maybe I am who knows?) it is my belief that my energy is now on a 4 year journey right behind my mom to the nearer star. What will we do when we get there? Who knows - hopefully dance together with my grandmother and shine our light on you all at night.
I can tell you that during my prognosis I tried to live my best, most loving life. I was successful in some moments and not so successful at others.
My greatest joy has been raising my son and having a loving supportive partner who allowed me to live that dream as a stay at home Mom.
Shine your light on them. They are a culmination of the best kind of love.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dawn’s memory to For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation on their website: www.takeabreakfromcancer.org or mailed to: 620 West Germantown Pike, Suite 150, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.
This wonderful organization provides a much needed respite to families who are dealing with the ongoing stress of a cancer diagnosis.
For Pete’s Sake gave Dawn a generous week to breathe during her diagnosis and treatments.
Dawn asks that you simply take a moment to watch a sunset, write a poem, or plan a little adventure - just as she would have done.
Venus
I am not afraid to die
For I have seen the other side
From the top gazing down
Onto the spectacular horizon at sunset
Layers of deep burnt orange
soft green and powder blue
Marked by the larger than
life moon that I have admired since my youth and
the hot ball of Venus, shining brightly
with the energy of accumulated stardust
of the souls who have gone before me
How spectacular to one day be suspended over the soft undulating clouds
and the curve of planet earth
So close I can reach out my hand with affection and touch my loved ones
Bringing a spark of electrified memories and comfort in the night
-Dawn
