Clayton Burchill, 81, of Howell passed away on October 10, 2024 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch.
Clayton was born on February 20, 1943 in Lower Merion Township, PA. Clay graduated from Upper Merion High School, where he was a star athlete in football, basketball and baseball. He went on to play football for West Chester University. He also obtained his bachelor's degree in physical education. He became a gym teacher for Cocalico School District. He even had his own daughters Tammi and Kim in his class.
After his career as a teacher, Clay became a self taught builder. He began building contemporary houses and went on to start his own contracting company in Lancaster Pennsylvania, Shakespeare Home improvement. A few of his homes were featured in local home building magazines.
After meeting his Fiancée Barbara, Clay moved to Howell, NJ where they made a beautiful life together, sharing many fun family moments with his new extended family. Wining and dining on many vacations and cruises. They also traveled to their home in Naples, Florida to escape the cold New Jersey winters.
Clayton is predeceased by his parents Ruth and Clayton Burchill and sister Barbara Schaeffer. He is survived by his fiancée Barbara Theis, his daughters Tammi Stork and husband George and Kimee Galan and husband Luie, sisters Diane Larkin and Faith Hagan and his pets Mitzi and Lu Lu.
He will be missed by those who loved him.
Services are entrusted to Jersey Shore Cremation, 43 Taylor Avenue, Manasquan, NJ.
