Cholita Tolentino Advento

In Loving Memory Cholita Tolentino Advento, 76, of Bradley Beach, New Jersey passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on November 12, 2019 after along battle with cancer. Cholita was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved being with her family, traveling together on trips overseas to Egypt, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Bermuda, Europe and Dubai, as well as enjoying holidays by the Shore. Cholita was a gracious host and cook. She was known for her delicious Filipino dishes, such as Pancit Bihon, Barbeque, Adobo, Flan, and Bibingka, as well as her elaborate Thanksgiving dinners. Everyone who entered her house felt welcome and well-fed! Cholita was deeply committed to the importance of a good education for her family. She took much pride in seeing her two children graduate from university and find success in their chosen professions. Cholita was born in San Jose, Nueva Ecija, Philippines on April 3, 1943 to Soledad Gatuz Tolentino and Alfredo Santos Tolentino, Sr. She was predeceased by her daughter Cheryllyn, her parents, and three of her brothers: Rodolfo Tolentino, Anselmo Tolentino, and Alberto Tolentino . Cholita attended Far Eastern University in Manila, PI, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Education. After graduation, Cholita continued to work at FEU, as one of the twenty candidates sent to train as computer programmers at the Burroughs Training School, Philippines. It was there that she met fellow trainee Eloy Castro Advento. They married in 1972, and immigrated that same year to the United States. They lived in New York City and Jersey City, settling and raising their two children in South Plainfield and Edison for the next 19 years. Cholita became a US Citizen in 1981. Cholita worked in customer service for several companies, most recently serving as import-export supervisor at Hoescht-Celanese/Agfa. Cholita and Eloy retired to the Jersey Shore in 1999. Cholita is survived by her husband, Eloy Advento, her son JohnEric Advento, daughter-in-law, Christina Vanover Advento, grandchildren Simon and Julia, all of Bradley Beach; her daughter Antoinnette Advento and son-in-law Cary Murnion of Los Angeles; brother Alfredo Tolentino, Jr., nephews Dave Tolentino and Michael Tolentino, niece Alfie Tolentino, sister-in-law Narcissa Tolentino, and many other nephews, nieces, and grandchildren from her late brothers of the Philippines. A funeral mass will be held for Cholita on Saturday, November 23, at 10:30am at St Rose of Lima Church in Belmar. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Cholitas name to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance.
