Charles (Chic/Charlie) Irwin Whedon, 96, passed away on December 3, 2024 in Tinton Falls, NJ. Chic was born on June 6, 1928 in Elizabeth, NJ, he graduated from Roselle high school in 1945 and then immediately enlisted in the Armed Forces for peacetime occupation of Japan. During his high school years and time in the service, Chic established an incredible group of friends that stuck together for more than 75 years. After decades of group trips and life celebrations among 20 or so families, Chic was the last friend standing. He had now returned to his cherished friends, his great loves Marjorie and Joyce, and countless others in what was undoubtedly a momentous and joyous reunion.
Chic Whedon was a compassionate man whose moral clarity guided his actions of caring for those around him.
He was an engineer who was deeply devoted to his Alma Mater Lehigh Unversity. After many nights at Grace Hall, he fell in love with wrestling —which would become a life-long, generational passion shared with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children: Carol Barnhart and Frank Whedon, Chuck and Cali Whedon, and his grandchildren: Ralph, Donald, & Jennifer Barnhart, Robert , Rebecca, and Phineaus Whedon, and Liam & Delaney Buday. He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie V. Whedon.
Chic and Marge were steadfast in their dedication to showing us kids the world through a lens of open minded acceptance and without judgment. Chic’s engineer brain made him an excellent teacher and lifelong example for us kids to aspire to. Chic faced every day with a positive attitude and an open heart.
