Carmine J. Freda

Carmine J. Freda, 96 of Lakewood formerly of Orange entered into eternal life on Saturday December 16, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. Carmine, affectionately known as Babe, was self-employed and the owner of Clothes Basket Laundromat in West Orange for 50 years. He proudly served as a Marine during World War II from 1944-1946. He then attended Seton Hall University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in 1950. Carmine was a parishioner at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, Orange, where he served as an usher for many years. He married the love of his life Anne (DeAngelis) on September 4, 1951 and together they shared 72 years. They both retired to Lakewood NJ in 2000. Carmine was an avid swimmer frequently lapping 20-25 miles a week. He loved staying active and spending cherished moments with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Carmine was predeceased by his parents James and Edna (Meola) Freda.

He is survived by his wife Anne, his six children, Debra Gallo (John), Dr. Patricia Pietrobon (Robert), James (Diane), Carmine (Carol), Anne Marie, and Edna Cullen (Daniel). He is also survived by his loving sister Carmela Ianiro, brother-in-law Robert DeAngelis, his sister-in-law Emelia DeAngelis. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A celebration of Carmine's life will be planned for a future date.
