Carlo Iovino Jr, born at home in Queens, NY April 4, 1938 (passed 6-16-2020) to the late Carlo and Vilma Iovino Sr. The family moved to Woodbridge and when Carlo was 8 years old making their permanent home in Point Pleasant. He attended Ocean Road School and went on to graduate Point Pleasant Beach HS in 1957. Carlo worked many jobs in the local area; Arnold Theater, The gas station across the street, Carter’s Rug cleaning and Sorrento’s II. He was a welding foreman at Marine Safety, A heavy machine operator with Charlie James and in semi retirement worked with the Harris Brothers Point Pleasant Glass, as a glazer. He was an avid boatsman, fisherman, hunter, diver and car enthusiast. He was a member of the Roadhawks Car Club. Carlo was active in the Old Guard of Greater Point Pleasant. He belonged to two metal detecting clubs, Deep Search and Bravo. He took great pride and pleasure in talking about his finds; many of which can be found at the Monmouth Battlefield Museum among other places. He is an Honorary Cornell in Kentucky for his Battlefield work with his clubs.
His family, friends and neighbors hold most dear his Great Big HUGS! Pizza nights were a 40+ year tradition and everyone was always welcome. He always gave of his time and talents. Johnny on the spot to help out anyone in need. His wife Mary Lou Chadwick who predeceased him in Sept 2016, together were the neighbors everyone wanted as their own. And They loved their neighbors in return. The Point Pleasant Way. Carlo made lives better from the young dad on the block in the 60's to his current sage status on the block.
Carlo is survived by his sister, Olympia Bush of AZ and sister-in-law, Claudia Iovino of FL. He
was predeceased by his Brother, Nicholas Iovino of FL, and brother -in-law, Larry Bush of AZ.
Survived by his Daughter’s Lisa and son-in-law Ken Lewis of Brick, Sandra Iovino-Cranwell of Forked River, Brenda Iovino of St. Augustine, FL.. Lisa’s sons, Nicolas & Skylar Nevolo of Simi Valley, CA., Sandra’s son, Patrick Cranwell of Point Pleasant. Brenda’s children, Craig Hartley Jr of Brick, Taylor Doran husband and 2 sons of Brick, Morgan Hartley of St. Augustine, FL.
Carlo was survived by so many lifelong friends, family and extended family. His beloved nieces and nephews blood and not held the largest parts of his heart! When you still have your buds when you are in your 80’s your blessing’s are many!
In the near future he will be interned in the St. Mary’s By The Sea memorial garden with his beloved wife Mary Lou. A pizza party celebration is being planned. DTBD.
