Betty Mae Scarpulla

Betty Mae Scarpulla-Smith age 89 formerly of Toms River and Atlantic City, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Care One in Holmdel. Betty was born December 21, 1926 in Yonkers, NY. She graduated Yonkers High School and started her career as a Telephone Operator with New York Telephone. She also worked as a Health Care Activities Director in New Bedford, MA. before becoming a Pit-Clerk at the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. Betty is predeceased by her parents; Ernest Burrie and Mary Racek; her husbands, Salvatore Scarpulla and Frederick Smith, her son; Jeffrey Scarpulla and her grandson Thomas Scarpulla, also her sisters, Mary, Rose, Wilma and Eileen. Betty is survived by her sons; Bruce Scarpulla and his wife Karen of Buena, NJ, Brian Scarpulla and his wife Doreen of Toms River and Tracy Scarpulla of Brick, her daughter; Kimberly Scarpulla and her husband Russell Gillen of Manasquan. 11 Grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held, Sunday, June 26th. from 12 noon to 2 PM at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove. Cremation will be private.
