Betty Lou Hall

March 5, 1959 — June 21, 2021

Betty Lou Hall, 62, died Sunday, June 20, 2021, in Hackensack, New Jersey. A memorial service will be held via Zoom on Saturday, July 3, 2021. The Zoom link can be obtained by calling 218-766-8959 or 218-760-6649. Betty is survived by her sister, Karen Hoover and three brothers: Kenneth Hall, Jr., Roy Hall, and Ron Hall. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth, and Marjorie (Wiermaa) Hall, and a brother, Lee Hall. Being born in Virginia, Minnesota, her ties to northern Minnesota were deep rooted, especially to the family cabin on Lake Vermillion. Perhaps time spent at the primitive cabin instilled in her a sense of adventure which would blossom later. Betty studied the Bible with her sister Karen and was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness in March 1979. Her spiritual family grew as she and Karen traveled to many conventions around the world – Greece, Czech Republic, Russia, Korea, China, Zimbabwa, Bulgaria, Sir Lanka, and more. Her broad smile, warm demeanor, and infectious laugh drew friends to her, especially when she wintered in Columbia and the Philippines. Special bonds were formed over watermelon slices, sloth sightings, root beer floats and laughter. Covid restricted her activities but not her spirit. It was not a life of leisure. Betty drove a bus for Dial A Ride on the Iron Range and a school bus for Bemidji School District (30+ years), all the while reaching out to people in her ministry and personal life. “Life is good,” she would say as she handed out a plate of her chocolate peanut candies! Yes, it was good because Betty was part of our lives…..
