Bernard J. Hopkins, 99, of Dingmans Ferry, PA, peacefully passed away on April 24, 2024, in Neptune City, NJ.
Bernard was born on September 15, 2024, in Bayonne, NJ. Bernard grew up in Bayonne and attended primary and high schools there. He then proudly served in the US Marine Corp. in the South Pacific during World War II, from 1943 through 1947. After serving in the USMC Bernard attended St. Peter’s College, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree and then went on the achieve his Master’s Degree from New York University. He worked in the NY Railroad System followed by many years managing the O’Donnell Agency in Bayonne.
Bernard is survived by his four loving children, Mary Ann Hopkins (Phil), Bernard Hopkins, Susan Jordan (Stuart) and Margaret O’Connell (Jay), and his sister Marian. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Brian, Bernard, Ashley, Timothy, Noel, Courtney, Bethany, and Sean, and four great grandchildren, Chelsea, Greyson, Brody, and Olivia. Bernard is also survived by many other loving family and friends.
Bernard is predeceased by his loving wife, Mary, in 2002, as well as his parents, Bernard and Anna Hopkins, and his siblings Walter and Dorothy.
A burial committal service is being held on Wednesday, May 1, at 11:00am at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
Services are entrusted to Jersey Shore Cremation, 43 Taylor Avenue, Manasquan, NJ.
