Astrid ( Andreasen ) Pedersen, 95, of Brick, NJ passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, October 29,2026, surrounded by her loving daughters and grandson.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Anna and Wilhelm Andreasen, they moved back to Norway in 1939 but escaped via boat one year later when Germany invaded Norway in 1940. Upon their return, they made their home back in Brooklyn. Astrid married Walter in 1950 and started her family, eventually moving to Matawan where they made lifelong friends on Fierro Avenue. They later built a home in Point Pleasant and settled there in 1969 to raise their four daughters. In her youth, Astrid spent summers working on the boardwalk at Martell’s and baked Christmas cookies at a Norwegian bakery in Brooklyn—an early beginning to the cherished tradition she would carry on with her own family. Astrid spent her career in the bookkeeping department of a local bank in Pt Pl, retiring in 1994 after 23 years of service.
Astrid was a devoted friend and cherished a life full of simple joys. She spent many years on bowling leagues with her dear friend Jeanette, enjoyed countless vacations with good friends and family and in her later years, looked forward to lunches and laughter with her treasured friends, Terry, Gay and Donna. Above all, Astrid was a devoted Mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family, attending skating and bowling parties, plays, chorus and band concerts, basketball, soccer games and horseback riding lessons of her beloved grand and great grandchildren. She especially loved baking Norwegian Christmas cookies every year and teaching her family about the Norwegian traditions and heritage she so loved.
Astrid made her home for the last 15 years, of her life with her daughter Linda and grandson, Sean, sharing many trips to Ohio for family visits and reunions, PA for Sight and Sound shows, New England states and the Carolinas and making treasured memories with them.
Astrid was predeceased by her former husband of 49 years, Walter Pedersen ( Norway ); her parents, Anna and Wilhelm Andreasen; her dear in-laws, Anna and Sigurd Pedersen; her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Bertha Pedersen of Ohio; Alf Pedersen ( Brooklyn ); her sisters, Solveig (Curt) Bauer of Jamestown, NY, and Winnie Jacobus of Point Pleasant; her beloved first born, daughter, Susan; and her grandson, Dennis Holly Jr.
She is survived by her three daughters, Linda Pedersen of Brick, Doris Pedersen of Belmar, and Lori ( Julio ) Pedersen of Brick; her grandchildren; Colleen ( George ) Fulling of Murrell’s Inlet, SC; Kristen ( Rob ) Hahn of Brick; Sean of Brick, NJ; Kevin ( Megan ) Kile of Tucson, AZ; Erik ( Whitney ) Pedersen of Candler, NC; and Ashley Trice of Hamilton, NJ. She also leaves behind her five adored great-grandchildren, Landon, Addison, Samantha, George and Kasper as well as many dear nieces, nephews and extended family members in Norway.
Astrid will forever be remembered for her generosity, love of family, her beautiful blue eyes, love of chocolate, steadfast friendships and the warmth she brought to everyone who knew her.
