Anthony J. (Tony) Spinola, 84 passed away on Friday, January 18, 2019. He was born on January 21, 1934 in Newark, NJ to Giovanni (John) Spinola and Giovanna (Jenny) Callerami. He grew up in Newark, NJ where he graduated from West Side High School before enlisting in the Army. After serving in the Army, Anthony worked at Hahnes Department Store in Newark and earned his college degree from Saint Peters College. Anthony had a successful sales and marketing career traveling throughout the country selling home furnishings. He was employed by Reliable Manufacturing Company and Sharon Concepts for many years before joining the Uttermost Company where he worked for seventeen years prior to retiring. Over the years Anthony mentored many young associates and developed lasting friendships that continued well beyond his retirement years. He touched many lives with his humble and charismatic personality.
Once Anthony retired in 2008, he and his adoring wife, Carolyn (Carsillo) moved to Point Pleasant, NJ where they enjoyed living near the beach and bicycling around Bay Head and the Mantoloking area. They joined Life Chapel and have been members for more than a decade. Anthony brought his enthusiasm and energy to the young church. He helped form the Mens Prayer Ministry and other prayer groups. He assisted in the church food bank delivering meals, furniture, clothing and other essentials to people in need. Anthony loved Life Chapel and the many friends he met through the church. His church family has been a strong source of prayer and emotional support for Anthony and Carol as he aged and recently began to slow down. Anthony will be missed by many. He will be remembered for his kindness, his boundless energy, his contagious enthusiasm and will especially be remembered for his enormous heart and smile.
Anthony was predeceased by his parents and his three older siblings, Angelo, Grace and Mary. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Carol (Carsillo). He is also survived by his six loving children, Susan (Tim) Sabins (Spring Lake Heights), Tom Spinola (Bricktown), Jim Spinola (Bordentown), Carolyn (Greg) Renner, (Sunset Beach, NC), Bill Spinola, (Newport, NC) and Matt Spinola (Bradley Beach), and his two stepsons, Bill (Michelle) Krueger (Kenilworth) and John (Julie) Krueger (Springfield). Anthony is also survived by his six grandchildren who have brought him decades of pride and joy, Colette Sabins, T. Hunter (Morgan) Sabins, Ashlen Renner, Matthew Renner, Logan Sabins and Cassidy Sabins. He is also survived by his loving niece and four nephews and their families.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Anthonys life will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Life Chapel located at 3118 Bridge Avenue in Point Pleasant, NJ at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Anthony Spinola to Life Chapel so Anthonys caring church family can continue the charitable work that meant so much to him.
