Agnes E. Zaorski

Agnes E. Zaorski (Patterson), 82 a life long resident of Eatontown, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2026 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune from ovarian cancer.

Agnes was born on July 8th, 1944 in Long Branch New Jersey to Agnes and Spencer Patterson. After graduating from Glassboro State College, Agnes went on to pursue a career in teaching, working for the Eatontown Public School system for 44 years. She taught kindergarten, kindergarten thru 8th grade basic skills and computers. When she became the Technology Coordinator she introduced the magic of computer technology to many students, staff and administrators. She collaborated with the NJ Department of Education to develop a Technology Curriculum and her "Take Home Learning Games" program was published and distributed to every school in New Jersey as part of the Partners in Learning Model Program. She orchestrated many online programs such as key-pals with students in Australia and Native Americans in the Southwest and Washington State as well as science and social studies programs with classes in Japan and the Dominican Republic. The "WOW-KITE" (Windows Online to the World-Key-pals Inter-generational Telecommunications Experience) project had senior citizens discussing history with 4th graders online and was published in Education Technology Best Practices for America's Schools by William Bozeman. She offered after-school Students-Seniors Projects teaching senior citizens about technology and Family Technology nights. She traveled around the country doing presentations at both ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) and NECC (National Educational Computing Conference). conferences. She also received the New Jersey Governor's Teacher of the Year Award. After retiring she continued as an educational technology consultant with her business Take Along Technology.

Outside of work, Agnes was passionate about giving back to the community of Eatontown. She was an active member of the Eatontown Historical Committee implementing an Inter-generational Interview Program, resurrecting the "What Eatontown Means To Me" essay contest for 84 graders, serving as the Chairperson of Eatontown's 350th Sesquicentennial Celebration, and Eatontown's Historian.

She loved vacationing in Maine each summer, especially at Moosehead Lake, to spend time with family and friends. Agnes was an exceptionally kind and generous person always thinking of others and bestowing upon them many gifts from her favorite hobby of shopping.

She was a devoted wife to William J. Zaorski for 58 years and a loving parent to son William Spencer (Spence) Zaorski and his wife Yoshiko. She is also survived by brother and sister in laws, Stan and Bea Zaorski, sister in law Joyce Zaorski Nasser and sister in law Patti Zaorski Cobb, many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. She had several very dear friends especially Marie (and her entire extended family) whom she was friends with since kindergarten, Anne, Karen, and Jessica, just to name a few.

At her request she was cremated, no services were held and she will be interred at the Van Liew Cemetery in North Brunswick, New Jersey in her family's plot. The family requests that donations can be made to the Eatontown Historical Committee in Agnes's memory. Agnes will be deeply missed by all who knew her and her memory will live on in our hearts forever and ever.
