Abigail Crumes

Abigail Crumes (born Abigail Joiner), 56, of Neptune, New Jersey passed away on April 22, 2020. Gail, as she was well known by, was born on February 19, 1964 in Neptune, New Jersey. Her mother was very adamant about education being a must have, so Gail went on to graduate from Neptune High School, Class of 1983. Her participation in ROTC lead to her joining the United States Army; where after graduation she quickly got to travel to many different countries. Gail returned back to Neptune in 1990; due to her mother becoming disabled. She worked for Fort Monmouth EMT while attending Brookdale Community College for her Registered Nursing licence. She pursued her passion for nursing, specializing in wound care, and became the ADON (assistant director of nursing) at a Nursing Home in East Brunswick. Gail spent many years in Christian fellowship at Friendship Baptist Church, Asbury Park. Gail was definitely what you would call a "Foodie", so once confined to her home, you could always catch her eating something new, watching the cooking channel, a Tyler Perry show, playing or reading on her laptop, and caring for her grandchildren. She loved to travel, and the finer things in life. If she engaged with you then it was mostly likely about food, cooking, traveling, and the importance of education. Her motto was "Work Smart; Not Hard!" She was predeceased by her parents, Juantia "Mema" Joiner (10/1999), Johnny Berry (11/1999), and ex- husband Carl B. Crumes, II (03/2013). Mourning her loss are daughters: Lakayla Crumes, Neptune, NJ, Yuri Crumes, Newport News, VA, Patricia Williams, AL, and Quanica Legagneur, Newport News, VA, Goddaughters: Sakandra Sparger, OH, and Cassandra McGhee, GA, Godson: Kenneth Reid Jr., GA, GodSister: Rubye Joiner Kay, Neptune, NJ, Sister-in-law: Cassandra Crumes Smith, Farmington Hills, MI, Granddaughters: Nevaeh Robinson, Neptune, NJ, Ruby Williams, AL, Ariana Cosme, Newport, VA, Grandsons, Khalil Crumes, Neptune, NJ, Julius Crumes, Neptune, NJ, Isaiah Crumes, Neptune, NJ, Jeremiah Crumes, Newport News, VA, Saiyon Legagneur, Newport News, VA, Sister and Brothers on her father side {BERRY}, and a host of other relatives.
