Patsy Thomson Newman, 87, of Manasquan, NJ passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024.
Patsy was born on March 4, 1937 in Pinewald, NJ and grew up in Wall Township, NJ. She attended Manasquan High School where she served as the drum majorette and met her husband, Richard “Dick” Newman. She went on to receive a bachelor’s degree from Beaver College (now Arcadia). She had a passion for teaching, spending her career at St. Uriel Preschool, Hill & Dale and retiring from Cedar Creek Elementary School in Lacey Township.
Patsy adored her family above all else and was deeply involved in their lives. An avid sports fan, she never missed a grandchild's game. She had a love for the outdoors including camping at Lake George and was an avid skier and member of the Ocean Ski Club. In recent years she could be seen riding her yellow tricycle along the Manasquan boardwalk. She loved the beach, painting and was always up for shopping. She effortlessly brought joy to everyone around her.
Patsy’s presence filled every room she entered. Her infectious spirit was impossible to resist, and she had a way of making everyone feel like the center of her universe.
Patsy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard Newman and her parents, Kenneth and Jeanette Thomson.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Douglas and Terry Newman, Jill and Robert Wells, Jennifer and Todd Hranicka, her 9 grandchildren Bradford and Kathryn Newman, Chelsea and Cory Bryant, Douglas Wells, Ty Hranicka, Alec Wells, Madison Hranicka, Trevor Wells and 4 great-grandchildren Bode and Hallie Bryant, Brooks and Kaia Newman, her brother, Barry Thomson as well as her lifelong dear friend, Richard Queen.
A service will be held at the Church of St. Uriel the Archangel in Sea Girt, NJ on Friday, December 20th at 2:00pm. Internment at Greenwood Cemetery in Brielle, NJ will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Bradley Elementary School, Asbury Park, NJ 1100 3rd Ave Asbury Park, NJ 07712 in Patsy’s honor.
Services are entrusted to Jersey Shore Cremation, 43 Taylor Avenue, Manasquan, NJ.
