Anne D Freda

Anne (DeAngelis) Freda 96 of Lakewood formerly of Orange entered into eternal life on Monday March 18th 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Anne was a graduate of Orange High School in 1946 and worked as a secretary with the Prudential Insurance Company in Newark for several years. She married the love of her life Carmine J. Freda (affectionally known as Babe) on September 4,1951 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Orange and together they shared 72 years.

Anne was a loving housewife and mother to their six children. She loved to cook wonderful Italian meals and carried on many of the family traditions she learned from her mother. She was an accomplished seamstress having learned this skill on her own. She sewed many outfits for her children for the holidays along with clothes for her daughters’ Barbie dolls. She made many of their Halloween costumes which were worn by both her children and then her grandchildren. She also worked side by side with her husband Carmine in their business Clothes Basket Laundromat in West Orange.

They both retired to Lakewood New Jersey in 2000. Anne was an avid knitter and loved to read. She was a member of several clubs in their retirement community of Four Seasons where she would play cards, mahjong and bocce ball. She loved staying active and spending cherished moments with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Anne was recently predeceased by her loving husband Carmine on December 16, 2023. She is also predeceased by her parents Nicholas and Urania (Simurra) DeAngelis, her brothers Frank and Mario and her sister Rose Manze.

She is survived by her six children Debra Gallo (John), Dr. Patricia Pietrobon (Robert ), James (Diane), Carmine (Carol), Anne Marie, and Edna Cullen (Daniel). She is also survived by her brother Robert DeAngelis and her sisters-in-law Emelia De Angelis and Carmela Ianiro. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life for both Anne and Carmine will take place on Saturday April 13, 2024 at 10:45am at The Church of the Visitation 755 Mantoloking Road Bricktown, NJ 08723.

Burial will be private.
